Slope Checker
Check the slope between two points using rise over run.
Example: points (1, 2) and (5, 10) have slope 2
How this checker works
Slope measures how much y changes for each change in x. This checker takes two points and a student slope answer, then applies the rise-over-run formula. It subtracts the y-values to find the rise, subtracts the x-values to find the run, and simplifies the fraction rise/run. Decimal, whole-number, and fraction slope answers are accepted.
If the run is zero, the line is vertical and the slope is undefined. The checker treats “undefined” or “vertical” as the correct response for that case. For all other lines, it compares the student answer to the simplified slope value, so 4/2 and 2 are treated as the same slope. This is useful for coordinate-plane worksheets, linear functions, and quick graph checks. For graphing work where a student draws the line, upload a photo so Gradulo can review the visual work too.
