GCF and Simplify Checker
Find the greatest common factor or check whether a fraction reduces correctly.
Example: GCF of 18, 24, 30 is 6; 12/18 simplifies to 2/3
How this checker works
This checker covers two closely related skills: finding a greatest common factor and using a common factor to simplify a fraction. In GCF mode, enter two or more whole numbers and the student’s GCF. The checker finds the largest whole number that divides every value evenly. In simplify mode, enter the original fraction and the student’s reduced fraction.
For fraction simplification, the checker reduces the original fraction to lowest terms and compares it with the student response. That helps catch answers that are equivalent but not fully simplified. The work summary shows the target simplified form, so students can focus on the factor they missed. Use this tool for quick checks during fraction practice, factor review, or pre-algebra warmups. When the page has several problems or crossed-out work, the photo checker can review the full sheet more efficiently.
